The alteration of day and night, the natural course of the sun lightening the dark night sky to a bright blue beaming with it’s warm shining light, is a most normal and common phenomena around the world.
The rising and setting of the sun is a phenomena that occurs everyday. Depending on the season, the number of hours that a place gets sunlight varies, In winters, the length of the days shorten, and increase during the summer.

Midnight Sun is a phenomenon where in during the summer months when the axis of the earth is too close to the sun, in certain places the sun does not set and hence there is daylight 24 hours of the day.
A fascinating event this happens on the extreme northern and southern ends of the planet. This summer, if you wish to explore and experience this phenomenon here’s a list of some of the places where one can experience eternal sunshine and never ending daylight.
Norway
One of the best places to witness the midnight sun is Norway. To get an unforgetable experience, head down the northest possible location of Longyearbyen on the Svalbard archipelago which is the closes possible place to the artic circle.

Iceland
Iceland’s Reykjavik is the northermost capital in the world and the place where the midnight sun is an official celebration. The city hosts a Summer Solstice Festival on June 21, which celebrates it’s viking culture. Though since the capital is located a little away from the artic circle. to get a proper experience one can also head to the little island of Grimsey located right on the circle.

Greenland
Greenland is the northern most island country and a great option to visit to experience the midnight sun. The country has breathtaking natural backdrops that are a treat to witness in the summer alongside the all day sunlight. Taking a cruise at night to witness the midnight sun along with the floating glaciers is an unforgetable experience.

Alaska
In this northern stretch of the USA, the Alaskan region is one of the unexplored and wild regions that receives considerable sunlight during the summers. Sweden
The Lapland region located north of Sweden is the place to enjoy and witness the midnight sun along with the festivities and parties held to mark the occasion. If all night partying isn’t your thing, then the midnight sun offers a great chance to go night hiking at Abisko National Park and explore it in daylight.

Canada
Adjacent to Alaska, the northern edge of Canada at the Inuvik region witnesses the midnight sun for almost 50 days. The place marks the occasion with festivals such as the Great Northern Arts Festival and events like the Midnight Sun Fun Run, which begins at midnight on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice.

Finland
While the capital of Finland itself doesn’t fully experiences the midnight sun, a great option is to head the northern edge of Lapland that’s shared with Sweden. Revel in the festivities held to mark the occasion with bonfires, dancing, boating and fishing during the Finnish National Holiday of Midsummer.
